Stadtpark Lahr

During my last trip, I had the pleasure of discovering the Stadtpark, a jewel nestling in the heart of the charming town of Lahr. This urban park, a true haven of peace, offers a perfect blend of nature and culture, attracting locals and visitors alike... like me.

As soon as I arrived, I was drawn to a waterhole that had been covered over time by a large number of water lilies. As I got closer, I quickly realised that the pond was inhabited.

The Stadtpark is a place where every corner holds a surprise. As I wandered around, I discovered magnificent flowerbeds, meticulously tended and coloured in a thousand vibrant hues. Lahr's gardeners seem to have a real gift for horticulture, creating flower arrangements of impressive regularity and precision.

Lahr's Stadtpark is also a meeting place for botany enthusiasts. Part of the park is given over to an arboretum featuring a variety of rare and exotic trees. Information panels allow the curious to learn more about the origin and characteristics of each tree, making the walk an enriching educational experience.

At the centre of the park is a picturesque pond, where ducks and swans glide peacefully on the water. I spent long moments watching these graceful birds, their presence adding a touch of serenity and natural beauty. There are well-placed benches where you can sit and enjoy the spectacle, the lapping of the water and the birdsong creating a soothing atmosphere.

The Stadtpark is a paradise for families. A modern, safe play area attracts children, who can have hours of fun under the watchful eye of their parents. I saw many little ones laughing and playing, their bursts of joy adding a touch of life and energy to the place. The facilities are varied and suitable for all ages, allowing the youngest to let off steam in complete safety.

One of the most charming aspects of the Stadtpark is undoubtedly the little cafés and kiosks scattered here and there. I enjoyed stopping to enjoy a coffee on the terrace, admiring the view and watching the walkers come and go. These gourmet breaks allow you to fully savour the atmosphere of the park, while offering a well-deserved moment of rest.

At the far end of the park, you can come across a variety of animals in a small, well-kept zoo. Meerkats, rabbits, guinea pigs, fallow deer, birds and even peacocks live in semi-liberty and will delight children. To finish on a floral note, a visit to the Stadtpark is also a must for cactus lovers. In particular, you'll find a square that's as cute as can be and brimming with references.
